Abstract
In the 1979 International Pearl Millet Downy Mildew Nursery (IPMDMN), 45 pearl millet entries were sent for evaluation of reactions to downy mildew, to cooperators at 26 locations in eight countries. Kamboinse in Upper Volta provided the most severe downy mildew pressure, followed by Pune and ICRISAT Center in India. Most of the entries showed high downy mildew resistance at all locations. Several entries including 700251, 700516, P-7, P-10, SDN-347-1, and SDN-503 which performed well in preceding years showed high resistance again this year. Among the newly included entries, SSC-7218, T-128-3 x 700404-1-5-5, J-1486 x 700787-2-10, NC-7174, B-Senegal-2-5 and MPP-7147-2-1 performed very well with less than 5 percent downy mildew at all the locations.
