Abstract

A high level of stable resistance to aflaloxin contamination (infection hy Aspergillus flavus and production of aflatoxin) has not been identified in cultivated groundnut (Arachis hypogaea), although several genotypes are reported to possess resistance to seed colonization, seed invasion and/or aflatoxin production (Mehan 1989, Waliyar et al. 1994,Upadhyayaetal. 1997). ICRISAT has a collection of 413 accessions of wild Arachis spp, the majority of which, have not been evaluated for resistance to aflatoxin contamination.
