Abstract
ICSH153 (= SPH221, CSH11) was derived from a cross between 296A (AICSIP) and MR750 (pedigree given). The hybrid is photoperiod insensitive; it matures in 105-115 days and has a height of 1.6-1.9 m, a well exserted, semiopen panicle, awnless glumes and medium-sized, light-cream grains (100-grain weight, 3.5 g), with a thin pericarp, which contain ~9.4% protein and 2.19% lysine (per 100 g of protein). It has given a mean yield of 4146 kg grain/ha and up to 12 t fodder/ha. It is recommended for intermediate to low altitudes, rainfed or irrigated cultivation and intercropping with legumes.
