Abstract
About 200 insect species have been raporttd as damaging pigeon pea in India. However, most of these art of minor, localised or sporadic importance. ICRISAT ■ urvaya of farm era1 fields shoved that two insect paata are of vide spread, major importance;-' Heliothis arciflere, the pod borer and Melanagroayaa obtuaa.' the podfly (Bhatnagar at al. 1981).
