Abstract
Sorghum is the third most important cereal crop in India after rice and wheat. The average grain yicld is 675 kg ha-I, altllough yielcls up to 7200 kg ha-l have been obtained at rcsearch stations. Sorghum is grown during the rainy (Kharif) and the postrainy (rabi) seasons. Sincc high yielding cultiv;lrs arid iniproved technology for production are alrcady availablc, more cmpliasis necds to bc plnccd on crop protection so as to increase, as well as stabilize the yield on farmers' fields.
