Abstract

The effects of drought, waterlogging, solar radiation, photoperiod, temperature and nutrition on seed yield of extra-short-duration (ESD) pigeonpeas [Cajanus cajan] are briefly discussed. In order to test the tolerance to waterlogging, 15 ESD genotypes were grown in pots in Vertisol at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, and waterlogged for 8 days beginning when plants were 42 days old. Preliminary results indicated that cv. ICPL 84023 and ICPL 93072 were tolerant to waterlogging, surviving to produce a seed crop. Cv. ICPL 87095, ICPL 88039, ICPL 91002 and ICPL 85012 were particularly susceptible to waterlogging damage
