    Abstract

    A detached leaf technique has been developed for screening material under laboratory conditions for resistance. The resistant introductions PI259747 and PI298115 were resistant at Hyderabad and are being used in hybridization programmes. A total of 14 F3 breeding lines from Puerto Rico appear to be sources of resistance.
