Abstract

During a survey of insect pests of pigeon pea in Nigeria in 1993 a large number of species was recorded, but relatively little damage to the crop. The species causing the greatest damage was Clavigralla tomentosicollis. Ratoon crops suffered the greatest damage, followed by pigeon pea intercropped with maize and sorghum. Seed samples collected from a market were infested with Callosobruchus maculatus. Some hymenopteran parasitoids of the pests were recorded.
