Abstract

An RFLP based map for a pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) population derived from a cross between H77/833-2 and ICMP451 was evaluated for its ability to detect quantitative trait loci by combining it with field data on downy mildew (Sclerospora graminicola) incidence, flowering time and 1000-grain mass from a trial involving the F4 generation derived from 94 of the mapped F2 plants in 1994 at Patancheru. Late flowering of ICMP451 was tightly linked to downy mildew quantitative trait loci in linkage group 1.
