Abstract
Research often yields much higher payoffs than other types of sustainable development investments, but this value proposition is diffi cult to communicate to non-specialists. By its nature, research is complex, technical, and unending – an answer to one question raises a host of others. Conclusions and lessons must often be couched in tentative and conditional terms.
