    Abstract

    Management of natural resources on watershed basis is a complex process involving several disciplines and institutions. International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) took up the challenge of converging various agencies at watershed level by putting together a consortium of organizations - national and state agricultural research institutions, government departments, non-governmental organizations, farmers' organizations, and women's self-help groups - for effective delivery at watershed level. Ten nucleus watersheds and 40 satellite watersheds in Mahbubnagar, Kurnool, and Nalgonda districts in Andhra Pradesh, India, are selected to develop the strategy for up scaling. The team building exercise started with the core team in the first round and spiraled up further to include the entire network of consortium partners in the fourth round using the cascade approach. The first round included the core group of scientists at ICRISAT; the second included the entire ICRISAT Watershed Team along with the core group. In the third round, the national agricultural research system (NARS) partners including National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) joined. The fourth round consisted of the entire network of government and NGOs including all those who participated in the previous rounds of team building exercise. This report documents the proceedings of different levels of team building workshops and the outputs for use of research and development workers for analysis and use in similar contexts. The lessons learned from the team building workshops are also detailed.
