Abstract
This paper reports on the use of embryo rescue and tissue culture techniques to produce fertile progeny from the interspecific incompatible cross Cajanus platycarpus × C. cajan. Variation in some traits (flower colour, flower morphology, seed colour, seed morphology and pollen fertility) in BC2F1, BC3F1 and BC4F1 is discussed. This article is the first report where any wild species from tertiary gene pool of Cajanus has been successfully crossed and fertile hybrids obtained.
