Abstract
Genetic and cytoplasmic male-sterile pigeon pea lines (GMS and CMS, respectively), and the pollen source ICPL 85010, were grown in pots maintained at a greenhouse with evaporative coolers. Pots with ICPL 85010 were kept at a distance of 0.5 m from the air coolers, while those with male-sterile plants were placed 3 m away from the pollen source. Pod setting was observed in unbagged open branches. GMS and CMS plants produced an average pod count of 3.25 and 5.0 pods/plant. This is the first reported occurrence of wind pollination in pigeon pea.
