Comprising 28 chapters including the Introduction, it presents scholarly works describing the vicissitudes and structural crisis which Indian agriculture is subject to in recent times and likely to encounter in the future-both in the short and the long run. The chapters are categorised into six broad development issues, namely, (i) structural transformation of agricultural sector, (ii) issues related to agricultural growth, (iii) agricultural policy and institutions, (iv) food security issues, (v) agricultural markets and prices, and (vi) natural resource management for agriculture. The array of topics covered in the volume would be found very useful by the researchers, students, teachers, scholars, policy makers besides other stakeholders in Indian agriculture.","The vast majority of farmers in the developing world are
smallholders. An estimated 85 per cent o f them farm less than 2
hectares (World Bank, 2008). Moreover, 75 per cent of poor people
live in rural areas, of which 2.1 billion survive on less than $2 a
day and 880 million on less than $1 a day. Most of them depend on
agriculture for their livelihoods (World Bank, 2009). Thus, promoting
integrated sustainable agriculture farming systems to meet food
and nutrition needs is imperative for meeting the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs) of halving poverty and hunger by 2015
(United Nations, 1995). This requires complementary knowledge
from formal agricultural R8cD (research and development) and
support from policies and other institutions. Therefore, in order to
accelerate sustainable agricultural development, it is essential to link
formal and informal knowledge and innovation. Innovations need
to involve technologies, organisations, institutions or policies for
significant improvement in performance...","2017","published",,,,,"Academic Foundation","New Delhi","313-341","666",,,,,,,,,,"TRUE","9789332703360",,"Vicissitudes of Agriculture in the Fast Growing Indian Economy: Challenges, Strategies and the Way Forward",,,,,"",,"https://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Institutional+Partnerships+and+Policy+Process+to+Boost+Productivity+of+Rainfed+Agriculture+in+Karnataka+India+A+Case+Study+of+Bhoochetana&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as","pub",,"","",,,,,,"",,,,,,,"",,,,,"",,,,,"","",,,,,"","",,,,,
