It is a unique grass species with high dry matter, which sustains its utilization for direct animal grazing and as a feed complement during drought periods. It has additional advantages like preventing soil erosion and improving soil fertility. Napier grass also has potential for bioenergy production and conversion to alcohol or methane due to its rapid growth and degradable biomass characteristics. The present study was planned to assess the genetic variability among purpureum germplasm conserved at ICRISAT genebank, Patancheru for their potential utilization in development of forage varieties and bajranapier hybrids. date: 2015-11 date_type: published pagerange: 01-03 event_title: XXIII International Grassland Congress IGC 2015 event_location: New Delhi event_dates: November 20 -24, 2015 event_type: workshop refereed: TRUE related_url_url: https://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?q=Genetic+variability+in+Napier+grass+%28Pennisetum+purpureum%29+germplasm+conserved+at+ICRISAT+genebank&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5 related_url_type: pub citation: Pattanashetti, S K and Upadhyaya, H D and Blummel, M and Reddy, K N and Ramanareddy, Y and Kumar, V and Singh, S (2015) Genetic variability in Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) germplasm conserved at ICRISAT genebank.
