mapping have lead to direct comparisons of the relative order of homologous&#13;
sequences along the chromosomes of closely and distantly related species and the&#13;
development of the concept of genome synteny. Comparative genome mapping&#13;
provides insights into genome evolution and genetic information among divergent&#13;
species. Therefore the primary objective of this study was to use RFLP markers to&#13;
compare the presence of the same putative disease resistance genes in the sorghum&#13;
and rice. During this term of my project work, I have learnt ~nolecular marker&#13;
techniques like isolation of high quality DNA, restriction fragment length&#13;
polymorphism (RFLP), and other related techniques like handling clones,&#13;
transformation by electroporation, and isolation of the enzyme Tuq DNA polyntrmse.&#13;
