Growth and yield of the maize crop, in pure stands and in intercrop, were not significantly different. Efficiency of dry matter production, calculated from the relations between dry matter production and cumulative intercepted PAR, was highest for the maize/pigeonpea intercrop, followed by sole maize and sole pigeon-pea, proving the utility of such intercrops in making better use of resources in the Semi-Arid Tropics (SAT) date: 1980 date_type: published publication: Experimental Agriculture volume: 16 number: 4 publisher: Cambridge University Press pagerange: 377-386 refereed: TRUE issn: 0014-4797 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/S0014479700012035 related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Growth+and+Resource+Use+of+Maize%2C+Pigeonpea+and+Maize%2FPigeonpea+Intercrop+in+an+Operational+Research+Watershed&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt related_url_type: pub citation: Sivakumar, M V K and Virmani, S M (1980) Growth and Resource Use of Maize, Pigeonpea and Maize/Pigeonpea Intercrop in an Operational Research Watershed.
