TY - RPRT N2 - This progress report includes the research work carried out on development of short-duration pigeonpea cultivars at ICRISAT Center, Patancheru and at two cooperating centres, Hisar and Haryana. From exact trials, based on overall mean grain yield ICPL 83006 was found to be superior over Prabhat in South Zone (26%), Central and northwest plains zones (22%), west zone (50%) and Northeast hill Zone (11%). ICPLS 83015, 84023 and 85010 showed superiority in west and northwest plain zones. A new extra short duration line, ICPL 87095, has been identified for inclusion in 1989 EXACT trials. In EACT trials, ICPL 84052 and 85045 were found to be superior over UPAS 120 in south, central and northwest palin zones. Two new lines, ICPLS 86023 and 88026, were identified for inclusion in 1989 EACT. Among the lines selected for multilocations testing, 29 showed resistance/tolerance to sterility mosaic, 7 to wilt and 10 showed some degree of tolerance to phytophthora blight. During 1988 rainy reason, higher grain yields were obtained at Patancheru than at Hisar (2000 and 1521 kg/ha respectively) inspite of on an average 1.5 h less sunshine per day during life cycle. During these trials, 3 and 6 determinate extra-short duration and short-duration promising entries were identified AV - public KW - Cajanus cajan; Plant breeding; Cultivars; duration; Maturation; Variety trials; Yield increases; Adaptation; Acceptability; India; Disease resistance KW - RP5884 T3 - Progress Report No. 26 A1 - Gupta, S C A1 - Rao, T P A1 - Reddy, M C TI - Development of short-duration pigeonpea cultivars for high yield, wider adaptation and acceptabllity UR - http://oar.icrisat.org/7762/ Y1 - 1990/// ID - icrisat7762 M1 - project_report EP - 110 PB - International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics CY - Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India ER -
