I. Effect of hormone treatments ispublished: pub subjects: s1.2 subjects: s2.13 full_text_status: restricted keywords: Pigeonpea, Intergeneric hybridization, Pest resistance, Pod-set, Gibberellic acid abstract: Attempts to cross Cajanus cajan with Atylosia albicans, A. cajanifolia, A. grandifolia, A. mollis, A. platycarpa, A. sericea and A. volubilis resulted in varying degrees of success. Hormone treatment (gibberellic acid and kinetin) increased pod-set and the number of seeds per pod. Hormone treatment among the unsuccessful crosses delayed bud drop by 3–4 days, which prolonged ovule development. Our results indicate that treatment with hormones helps post-fertilization development and leads to improvement in the rate of crossing success date: 1985 date_type: published publication: Field Crops Research volume: 10 publisher: Elsevier pagerange: 315-322 refereed: TRUE issn: 0378-4290 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/0378-4290(85)90037-1 related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Intergeneric+hybridization+in+pigeonpea.+I.+Effect+of+hormone+treatments&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5 related_url_type: pub citation: Sateesh Kumar, P and Subrahmanyam, N C and Faris, D G (1985) Intergeneric hybridization in pigeonpea.
