However, no single publication gives a detailed account of the morpho-biochemical traits of improved tropical sweet sorghum cultivars. This chapter gives detailed account of the materials used, methods followed for data collection and analysis to characterise sweet sorghum genotypes following the guidelines of Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Act, 2001 (PPVFRA). The pooled analysis of variance for quantitative traits revealed that these cultivars had significant differences between them for the expression of all the quantitative characters under study for both the seasons. The results revealed that the productivity levels of tropical sweet sorghums during post-rainy season (October–March) are generally low due to photo-sensitivity and thermo-sensitivity of the genotypes vis-a-vis that of rainy season (June–October) and necessitates identifying new sources/alleles contributing to both biomass and sugar yield date: 2013 date_type: published series: SpringerBriefs in Agriculture publisher: Springer place_of_pub: India pagerange: 17-30 pages: 130 refereed: TRUE isbn: 978-81-322-0782-5 book_title: Characterization of Improved Sweet Sorghum Cultivars editors_name: Rao, P S editors_name: Kumar, C G official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-81-322-0783-2_2 related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Methodology%2C+Results+and+Discussion&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5 related_url_type: pub citation: Kumar, C G and Srinivasa Rao, P (2013) Methodology, results and discussion.
