The pest associated losses likely to increase as a result of changes in crop diversity and clim ate change. Climate change and climate variability will have major implication for water availability forest cover, biodiversity, crop production, and food security (Fig. 1) Changes in rainfall pattern are of greater importance for agriculture than the annual changes in temperature, especially in regions where lack of rainfall may be a limiting factor for crop production.
