bibo:abstract "It is imperative that the world’s farmlands become the frontline\r\nfor the battle to feed the projected 9 billion population globally.\r\nThe detrimental effects of climate change on food security can be\r\ncounteracted by broad-based economic development—particularly\r\nenhanced agricultural investment for improved land, water, and\r\nnutrient use. Improved crop, soil, and water management practices\r\nand stress-tolerant varieties that will overcome the detrimental\r\nimpacts of climate change will lead to benefits like improved\r\nfood security, livelihoods, and environmental security. Among the\r\nagricultural systems at greater risk of climate change are the\r\ndryland tropics, where the International Crops Research Institute\r\nfor the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has its mandate. ICRISAT’s\r\nnew Strategy to 2020 lays emphasis on inclusive market-oriented\r\ndevelopment (IMOD) as a pathway out of poverty by linking farmers\r\nto markets to increase incomes, enabled through a systems\r\nperspective and purposeful partnerships."^^xsd:string;
