Atherigona soccata Rond. was the dominant species (<99% of the flies reared), while the second most common species was Acritochaeta orientalis Schin. An interesting record was Atherigona eriochloae Mall. reared from tillers of ratooned sorghum. Three species as yet undescribed were recorded. More females than males were reared in the course of the study — the sex ratio was 1:1.27. It was concluded that only A. soccata is likely to be important when considering control of damage to sorghum by resistance breeding or the use of insecticides</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">Sorghum</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">1980</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>Taylor and Francis</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_5746"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_5746_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
