%T Aflatoxin contamination of food commodities and their management
%X The term aflatoxin was coined in the early 1960s when death of turkey birds was attributed to toxins in groundnut meals imported from South America (Blount, 1961).  It has now gained global significance as a result of their deleterious effects on human and animal health and its importance in international trade.  They are the most potent carcinogenic, mutagenic and immuno-suppresive agent. Aflatoxins are a group of closely related secondary metabolites of the fungi Aspergillus falvus and A. parasiticus.
