bibo:abstract "On-farm surveys were conducted in the Uttar Pradesh\r\n(India) during the two rainy seasons 2007 and 2008 to\r\nmonitor pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) downy mildew\r\nincidence. Twenty-one isolates of Sclerospora graminicola,\r\nthe pearl millet downy mildew pathogen, were collected\r\nfrom different hybrid cultivars. These isolates were established\r\non seedlings of the highly susceptible line 7042S\r\ngrown in the greenhouse and were characterized for their\r\nvirulence diversity using a set of seven host differential\r\nlines. Quantitative differences in virulence among\r\npathogen isolates were determined by calculating virulence\r\nindex (percent disease incidence × latent period-1).\r\nResults were submitted to cluster analysis using the Average\r\nLinkage method to determine similarity among\r\npathogen isolates. The two highly virulent isolates, Sg 492\r\nfrom Aligarh and Sg 510 from Badaun, representing geographically\r\ndiverse locations were selected for use in\r\ngreenhouse screening of pearl millet breeding lines."^^xsd:string;
