bibo:abstract "This workshop brought together leading chickpea scientists from around the world to:\r\nsummarize the present status of chickpea production and utilization; review progress since the\r\nfirst international chickpea workshop in 1979; project future goals for production and use of\r\nchickpea; identify constraints impeding progress, and research needed to reach these goals;\r\nprioritize research required to overcome the constraints; recommend and develop collaborative\r\nresearch proposals based on these priorities; and suggest the resources and training required to\r\neffect these proposals.\r\nThese proceedings update information on work on chickpea since 1979. They contain 31 full\r\npapers covering; chickpea status and potential, utilization, genetic resources and enhancement\r\nof germplasm, physiology and agronomy, pathology, insect pests, breeding strategies and\r\napproaches to crop improvement, and transfer and exchange of technology. In addition there\r\nare 20 abstracts on recent advances in chickpea improvement that cover all the main chickpeagrowing\r\nareas worldwide, reports of discussions and recommendations. All abstracts, discussion\r\nreports, and recommendations are published in French and English."^^xsd:string;
