It is semispreading with an upright growth habit and matures in about 100 days. In trials at several sites in Andhra Pradesh in 1982-83, ICCL80074 was ranked highest with an average yield of 2.38 t/ha, compared with 1.86 t/ha for Annigeri. In multilocational trials during 1982-86, mean yield of ICCL80074 was 1.5 t/ha vs. 1.27 t/ha for Annigeri. ICCL80074 gave an average yield of 1.17 t/ha in farmers' fields in Andhra Pradesh in 1988-89, compared with 0.76 t/ha for the local variety Jyothi. Seeds of ICCL80074 are light brown and attractive and 100-seed weight is 18.6 g. Seeds contain 20.6\% protein, 6.0\% sugar and 9.6\% iron and protein digestibility is 64.7\%. ICCL80074 is resistant to race 1 of Fusarium oxysporum and moderately tolerant of root rots; Helicoverpa pod damage is slightly reduced when compared with other commonly grown cultivars.} }
