The crop productivity of 1.50 t ha-1 is low in Asia. The available large variability in the Germplasm accessions has not been adequately utilized in the crop improvement programs and most groundnut cultivars stand on a very narrow genetic base. This is due to lack of information on agronomic and other economic traits, which require extensive evaluation. The development of a core collection could facilitate easier access to groundnut genetic resources and enhance their use in crop improvement. date: 2001 date_type: published pagerange: 1-1 event_title: Diamond Jubilee Symposium: Hundred Years of Post-Mendelian Genetics and Plant Breeding- Retrospect and Prospects event_location: Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding, New Delhi event_dates: 6-9 November 2001 event_type: conference refereed: TRUE related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Development+in+groundnut+core+collection+from+Asian+region&num=10&btnG=Search+Scholar&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&as_sdt=1.&as_sdtp=on&as_sdtf=&as_sdts=5&hl=en related_url_type: author citation: Upadhyaya, H D and Ortiz, R and Bramel, P J and Singh, S (2001) Development in groundnut core collection from Asian region.
