bibo:abstract "Serology is indispensable for the detection\r\nand identification of plant viruses.\r\nRecently, the highly sensitive enzyme-linked\r\nimmunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunosorbent\r\nelectron microscopy (ISEM) techniques\r\nhave been developed and may replace\r\nsome of the conventional serological methods.\r\nThe direct or standard double-antibody\r\nsandwich (DAS) form of ELISA. as first\r\ndescribed by Clark and Adams (1977), has\r\nwide applications in plant virology. An\r\nindirect form of ELISA (I-ELISA) has recently\r\nbeen developed by Barbara and Clark\r\n(1982). The ISEM procedure developed by\r\nDerrick (1973) combines the specificity of\r\nserology with coventional electron microscopy.\r\nDAS-ELISA, I-ELISA and ISEM have\r\nbeen adapted for the detection and identification\r\nof several groundnut viruses. This paper\r\nwill provide a description of each technique\r\nand its application for the detection and characterization\r\nof viruses occurring on groundnut\r\nin India."^^xsd:string;
