An experiment was carried out with three genotypes of chickpea P 9623, RS 11 and T 39-1 which differed significantly for their protein content. The experiment was conducted in deep yertisols under conserved soil moisture conditions. T 39-1, a high protein Bne was crossed with moderate and low protein parents P 9623 and RS 11. The crosses showed dominance of low protein over high protein content. Near normal frequency distribution was obtained for protein content in F2 generations for both the crosses suggesting the rote of atleast a few genes governing this character. Segregants with high protein content were recovered which couid be used to enhance the nutritional value of chickpea. date: 2001 date_type: published publication: Legume Research volume: 24 number: 1 publisher: Agricultural Research Communication Centre pagerange: 28-31 refereed: TRUE issn: 0250-5371 related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Inheritance+of+Protein+Content+in+Chickpea+&num=10&btnG=Search+Scholar&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&as_sdt=1.&as_sdtp=on&as_sdtf=&as_sdts=5&hl=en related_url_type: author citation: Vijayalakshmi, N V S and Kumar, J and Rao, T N (2001) Inheritance of Protein Content in Chickpea.
