Screening was carried out during 1979-91 in field and greenhouse studies at Tel Hadya, Syria, by inoculation with blight affected chickpea diseased debris and by spraying with a mixture of spores o f 6 races of A. rabiei from Syria. None of the lines showed desirable attributes for direct commercial exploitation, but are recommended as valuable sources of resistance to A. rabiei in hybridization programmes.
