abstract: The Pennisetum americanum lines ICMA3 and ICMB3 were derived from crosses between Tift 23DA, Tift 23DB and the Ghanaian introduction PI185642. Both are resistant to Sclerospora graminicola. In yield trials at Hissar, Haryana, India, hybrids on ICMA3 outyielded BJ104, and in one trial an ICMA3 hybrid outyielded the best MBH110 plot. ICMA3 carries the d2 dwarfing gene and is medium early (49 days to flowering). The grain of both lines is bold, with a 1000-grain weight of 12 g.
