The flavonoids, daidzein, an unidentified flavonoid X2 (Rf 0ยท19), glyceollins, sojagol and coumestrol exhibited antifeedant and/or antibiotic effects against the larvae of cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni Hb. The results indicate that several compounds in PI 227687 soya beans contribute to its antifeedant and/or antibiotic effects against T ni. The role of these compounds in plant resistance to insects is discussed. date: 1990 date_type: published publication: Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture volume: 55 number: 3 publisher: John Wiley & Sons pagerange: 353-364 refereed: TRUE issn: 0022-5142 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/jsfa.2740550304 related_url_url: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?as_q=%22Chemical+basis+of+resistance+in+soya+bean+to+cabbage+looper%2C+Trichoplusia+ni%22&num=10&btnG=Search+Scholar&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&as_sdt=1.&as_sdtp=on&as related_url_type: author citation: Sharma, H C and Norris, D M (1990) Chemical basis of resistance in soya bean to cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni.
