A few successes in improving crop plants have resulted from crossing wild taxa with cultivated ones. Several other taxa are not crossable with their cultivated relatives and are therefore unavailable for sexual gene transfers. Methods for breaking these barriers to interspecific hybridization and hybrid production have been developed date: 1985 date_type: published pagerange: 209-217 event_title: Inter-Center Seminar on International Agricultural Research Centers (IARCs) and Biotechnology event_location: Manila (Filipinas) event_dates: 23-27 Apr 1984 event_type: conference refereed: TRUE related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=Overcoming+Incompatibility+In+Wide+Crosses+&num=10&btnG=Search+Scholar&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&as_sdt=1.&as_sdtp=on&as_sdtf=&as_sdts=5&hl=en related_url_type: author referencetext: 1.
