The commercial viability of this hybrid, however, depends on the availability of seeds at an affordable cost so that even a small pigeonpea farmer could reap the benefits of this technology. So far no information is available on this aspect hence, the present investigation was undertaken at Agriculture College Research Farm, Indore (M.P.). In this large-scale experiment, one kilogram of hybrid (A x R) seed was produced at the cost of Rs 18.85. Further, the estimated profit from growing one hectare of seed production plot of this hybrid was Rs. 70,005. It was concluded that the seed production technology is easy and it can be adopted by seed producers; however, the presence of pollinating insects in the production area is essential date: 2011 date_type: published publication: Electronic Journal of Plant Breeding volume: 2 number: 3 publisher: Indian Society of Plant Breeders pagerange: 409-412 refereed: TRUE issn: 0975-928X official_url: http://sites.google.com/site/ejplantbreeding related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?hl=en&q=allintitle%3A+%22Profitability+and+production+cost+of+hybrid+pigeonpea+seed%22&btnG=Search&as_sdt=0%2C5&as_ylo=&as_vis=0 related_url_type: author citation: Saxena, M K and Saxena, U and Saxena, K B and Khandalkar, V S and Sultana, A R (2011) Profitability and production cost of hybrid pigeonpea seed.
