The need to use different standardizing sole crop yields in forming LERs is discussed, and a method of calculating an 'effective LER' is proposed to evaluate situations where the yield proportions achieved in intercropping are different from those that might be required by a farmer. The possible importance of effective LERs in indicating the proportions of crops likely to give biggest yield advantages is discussed date: 1980 date_type: published publication: Experimental Agriculture volume: 16 number: 3 publisher: Cambridge University Press pagerange: 217-228 refereed: TRUE issn: 0014-4797 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/S0014479700010978 related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?as_q=The+concept+of+a+%27land+equivalent+ratio%27+and+advantages+in+yields+from+intercropping&num=10&btnG=Search+Scholar&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_occt=title&as_sauthors=&as_publication=&as_ylo=&as_yhi=&as_sdt=1.&as_sdtp related_url_type: author citation: Mead, R and Willey, R W (1980) The concept of a 'land equivalent ratio' and advantages in yields from intercropping.
