Previous physical and physiological evidence suggested that LSW originates from the plant. This was confirmed by radioactive labelling methods using tritium and carbon-14. Tritiated water applied to the soil of potted seedlings was translocated to the surface of the whorl leaf. There were significant differences in the amount of tritiated water collected from susceptible (CSH 5) and resistant (IS 18551) genotypes. Studies with carbon-14 labelling of sorghum seedlings indicated the presence of (small amounts of) solutes in the surface water that may affect larval movement and survival. date: 1994 date_type: published publication: Annals of Applied Biology volume: 125 number: 1 publisher: Association of Applied Biologists pagerange: 215-218 refereed: TRUE issn: 1744-7348 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1744-7348.1994.tb04963.x related_url_url: http://scholar.google.co.in/scholar?hl=en&q=allintitle%3A+Resistance+in+sorghum+to+shoot+fly+Atherigona+soccata%3A+Evidence+for+the+source+of+leaf+surface+wetness&btnG=Search&as_sdt=0%2C5&as_ylo=&as_vis=0 related_url_type: author citation: Sivaramakrishnan, S and Soman, P and Nwanze, K F and Reddy, Y V R and Butler, D R (1994) Resistance in sorghum to shoot fly Atherigona soccata: Evidence for the source of leaf surface wetness.
