OAR@ICRISAT'ICTP 8203': A New Pearlmillet Variety for Maharashtra and Andra Pradesh.K NRaiauthorThis new [Pennisetum glaucum] variety, released in 1988, yields an average of 2.12 t/ha, outyielding the standard WCC75 by 7% in Maharashtra and 11% in Andhra Pradesh. It was obtained from a recombination of 5 progenies from a large-grained landrace from northern Togo. ICTP8203 is resistant to downy mildew [Sclerospora graminicola], has large, dark grey grains (1000-grain weight >12 g) and compact spikes.
