Macia is a high-yielding, earlymaturing, white-grained variety developed jointly by ICRISAT and national scientists in southern Africa. It has so far been released in five SADC countries—Mozambique, Botswana (under the name Phofu), Zimbabwe, Namibia, and now Tanzania.
