India. Relationships between stay-green, grain yield and yield components were investigated. Grain yield under post-anthesis stress conditions was correlated with grain number and, to a lesser extent, grain size. Grain number was correlated with green leaf area at anthesis. The stay-green trait was associated with higher leaf N status and transpiration efficiency.} }
