It belongs to the Alliance of Future Harvest Centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). ICRISAT conducts research on its mandate crops – sorghum, pearl millet, chickpea, pigeonpea and groundnut – which support the livelihoods of the poorest of the poor in the Semi-Arid Tropics (SAT). The mission of ICRISAT is to\r\nhelp empower 600 million poor people to overcome hunger,\r\npoverty and a degraded environment in the dry tropics\r\nthrough better agriculture. ICRISAT pursues an integrated\r\ngenetic and natural resource management (IGNRM) strategy to improve the livelihoods of the poor in the semi-arid crop-livestock-tree production systems.
