An ontology\r\nis a representation of a domain of knowledge where key concepts,\r\nas well as the relationships between those concepts, are\r\ndefined.2 By providing standardized definitions for the terms\r\nused by scientists along with defined logical relationships among\r\nthese terms, ontologies compile information about the content of\r\na dataset that can be explicitly used by computers.3 Each\r\nconcept has a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that uniquely\r\nidentifies it as a web resource accessible by anyone for data labeling,\r\nto efficiently support consistent use of ontology terms\r\nwithin and across disciplines and domains.
