"The effectiveness of the egg parasitoid\r\nTrichogrammatoidea armigera Nagaraja (Hymenoptera:\r\nTrichogrammatidae) in controlling Heliocheilus\r\nalbipunctella de Joannis (Lepidoptera:\r\nNoctuidae), a major insect pest of pearl millet in the\r\nSahel was assessed during two consecutive years in\r\nNiger on-station and on-farm conditions. We found\r\nthat released T. armigera were able to find and\r\nparasitize host eggs within pearl millet fields both onstation\r\nand in farmers’ fields. On-station releases of T.\r\narmigera led to an average 4.86-fold increase in T.\r\narmigera parasitism compared to control fields, where\r\nno parasitoids were released. Likewise, on-farm\r\nreleases of T. armigera led to up to 5.31-fold more\r\negg parasitism by T. armigera in release fields than in\r\ncontrol.
