Sorghum is an important cereal crop that is grown in all the northern and some parts of south western states of Nigeria. It plays a vital role in the diets and economies of people in Nigeria. The average per capita annual sorghum consumption in its major growing areas for morethan ten years is foot at 40kg. .Global prices for agricultural commodities have risen dramatically in recent years, making agriculture an attractive investment once again. Industrial demand for sorghum as substitute for wheat in the production of composite flour and high energy foods by flour mills and malting industries for beverages coupled with its micronutrient potential for Iron (Fe) and Zinc (Zn) as health food makes it a competitive crop.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">Smart Foods</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Nigeria</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Sorghum</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">African Agriculture</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Africa</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Value Chains</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2019</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>ICRISAT</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Monograph</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_11250"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_11250_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
