%X The International Chickpea and Pigeonpea Newsletter (ICPN) is published annually by lCRISAT. It is intended as a worldwide  communication link for all those who are interested in the research and development of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.), and  pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.], and their wild relatives. Though the contributions that appear in ICPN are peer-reviewed  and edited, it is expected that the work reported will be developed further and formally published later in refereed journals. It is  assumed that contributions in ICPN will not be cited unless no alternative reference is available.
