Further, the workshop ident i f ied bottlenecks in returning data, formulated the methods of trials or seed dist r ibut ion, ident i f ied coordinators for each country, and out l ined the research thrusts for further research. These include: extending the research to other zones (fertile areas and drought - prone areas) besides acid savanna soils; enhancing research on pearl mi l let to 30% (sorghum 70%) f rom the present 10%; nutrient uptake efficiency (sorghum); and use of pearl mi l let as soil organic content enricher. This publication contains the presentations made at the meeting and a summary of the recommendations. It thus provides an overview of the current status of the research in the IDB -funded project, and discusses the problems and prospects for sorghum and pearl mi l let production in the region. publisher: International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics date: 2000 type: Monograph type: NonPeerReviewed format: application/pdf language: en identifier: http://oar.icrisat.org/1081/1/RA_000351.pdf identifier: Reddy, B V S and Ceballos, H and Ortiz, R (2000) A Research and Network Strategy for Sustainable Sorghum and Pearl Millet Production Systems for Latin America Proceedings of the Workshop.
