Homozygous T2 transgenics,\r\nwhen evaluated for salt and drought stress, showed enhanced\r\ntolerance compared to wild-type plants. Transgenics showed\r\nenhanced root biomass under normal conditions. Transformants\r\nalso displayed higher proline content, K+, relative water content,\r\nchlorophyll fluorescence, total biomass, vascular conductivity,\r\nand fruit yield compared to the wild-type plants under stress\r\nconditions. Co-immunoprecipitation revealed that Chi11 co-expresses\r\nwith phosphofructokinase2 (PFK2), which may play a\r\nrole in enhanced root biomass. qPCR analysis resulted in higher\r\ntranscript levels of OLP, Chi11, and PFK2 in transgenics as compared\r\nto the wild-type plants."^^ .
