bibo:abstract "This Thematic Series on “Climate-Smart Agriculture\r\nTechnologies in West Africa: learning from the ground\r\nAR4D experiences” contains seven papers presented by\r\nresearchers from four West African countries based on\r\nparticipatory action research conducted since 2012 in\r\nthe region. These research activities were funded by the\r\nCGIAR Research Program on Climate Change Agriculture\r\nand Food Security (CCAFS) through a project titled\r\n“Developing community-based climate-smart agriculture\r\nthrough participatory action research in CCAFS benchmark\r\nsites in West Africa” (see [1]). This research action\r\nunder the scientific lead of the World Agroforestry Centre\r\n(ICRAF) aimed to test and validate, in partnership\r\nwith rural communities and other stakeholders, scalable\r\nclimate-smart village models for agricultural development\r\nthat integrate a range of innovative agricultural risk\r\nmanagement strategies. The project also aimed to enable\r\nfarmers, developers, managers and policy makers for the\r\nagriculture sector to develop cost-effective climate-smart\r\nagriculture (CSA) options that support local sustainable\r\ndevelopment and enhance livelihood resilience.
