Abstract
A new technique that was used in India to test nearly 3000 lines of pigeon pea [Cajanus cajan] for resistance to sterility mosaic, which is transmitted by the eriophyid mite Aceria cajani Channabasavanna, is described. Leaflets from diseased plants infested with mites are stapled to the primary leaves of test seedlings. The method can be used with very young seedlings (10-15 days old), and symptoms show up in one week. Six varieties of pigeon pea are named as immune
