Abstract

Seven cultivars of chickpea [Cicer arietinum] were tested in the field in Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1980-81 for susceptibility to Heliothis armigera (Hb.). Pod damage was assessed at harvest, and seed yields were estimated. Annigeri-1 (the standard) had the highest level of damage. ICC-506 was the least attacked and gave the highest yield. BDN-9-3 and Phule G-4 also gave higher yields than the standard. The early-flowering cultivars gave the highest yields
